Do Ingredients matter or the Curry?
The Ingredient or the Curry?
As a child, I always wondered how fish curry was made and consumed by the people who lived in my native down south in a small corner in India. They had it day in and day out, seven days a week. Can you really eat fish Seven days a week, throughout the year? all your life? Impossible but they do it How? these questions made me observe my dear grandmother who in all her through experience, went about giving advice to her Daughters in law how the curry was done.
I remember going to buy fresh fish almost every day during my vacations with my grandma. She always chose the best fish at an affordable price, taught me how to clean them and even showed me how the fishes swam, living in the oceans with a sense of dignity. It was much later that I realized the ingredients to flavor the curry was the same every single day but they tasted differently on the variety of fishes that grandma bought each day.
The routine ingredients added were the Turmeric, Coriander, Tamarind, Chilly, a dash of freshly ground coconut and curry leaves, the taste differed every single day making us look forward to what was served new for lunch every time. I deeply miss to this day my grandmother's cooking for no one could possibly achieve her style of making the same fish taste delicious. When we admire our family members for their unique quality. it gives us nostalgic feelings.
Can this nostalgic feeling be associated with every human being we meet on earth other than just family? In real life, I wonder at the ways we humans have made to access God the only common thing that unites us all as human beings, Apart from the ones that don't believe in the existence of God. God had created us all from one major ingredient, Dust and yet we still fight amongst ourselves as to which way to God is the right way and which is wrong. Are we, in fact, fighting over how we are made forgetting from what we were made? Or are we just trying to prove nothing? Does the Curry matter or do the ingredients that flavor the curry matter?
Let's imagine the curry to represent the people in all the world made with one ingredient but are all unique just like the fish curry. Now in order to know the truth, we need to question everything and not blindly accept what is being taught or endorsed upon us from infancy. So then, why not focus our mind and energy into the curry we make being together instead of fighting amongst ourselves as to who is right or wrong?
I know it's not that simple to shed all our differences and unite as one humanhood but at least let us strive to achieve what mere mortals can only dream of achieving. Break all stereotypes of Religion and be free to be unique in our way of understanding our creator or go on a quest, striving to get to know the true God. Indeed the Curry is Important for if there was no curry the ingredients would just be ingredients till the end without any purpose.
